Criminal Justice Online Degree
Thinking of a criminal justice online degree? It might be the best career move you ever make, but don't step lightly into an online degree program.
First take the time to find out what those who have been there have to say.
Erin, from Cleveland, Ohio, attended ITT Technical Institute, earning her criminal justice associate's degree online.
When the program was over, she decided to enroll in their bachelor's degree program.
Here's what Erin has to say about earning her degree online:
Describe what you liked best about your online learning experience.
I loved being able to work from my own home when it was convenient for me. I have a blood clot in my leg and can't get around very easily. So when I was unable to attend classes at the school, I was happy that they offered an online degree program so that I could continue with my education. I love that the course books are mailed to you well in advance and that the staff at the school is just an email or call away if needed. Professors are available for help within a reasonable amount of time and the curriculum is really top notch.
Describe what you liked least about your online learning experience.
There isn't that much that I did not like, honestly. The only draw back is that the cost was a little steep, but when you factor in cost of books, materials, and living expenses, it really is a great deal. Some professors took four days or more to return a question about an assignment that only allotted seven days to complete, which made it a tad difficult and forced my hand in getting the papers done at the last minute.
Has earning this degree helped or hurt your career?
Instead of going right into a career, I decided to re enroll and work toward my bachelor's degree after I had gotten my associate's degree. The school offers a large work placement program from their career services department which helps find work for the students.
What would you say to others who are thinking of pursuing a degree online?
Do not let others tell you about how bad the school is. The criminal justice online degree program is great. You will only get back what you put into it and the same can be said about anything. The work you put into it will dictate what you take away from it.
