Hawaii Teaching Jobs:
Hawaii is the only state with just one state-wide school system. The state's department of education employs more than 10,000 teachers, counselors, and librarians.
Imagine one school district with 10,000 teachers!
To fill the need for such a sprawling district, Hawaii offers employment to teachers who hold out-of-state certification.
To determine your Hawaii teacher salary, they will even honor up to six years of public school work history in another state.
Some military service may also move you up the pay scale.
There are guidelines for how to apply, and certain prerequisites are necessary.
First, you must have a current teaching license or have completed an approved and accredited teacher education program.
Second, you must take and pass the Praxis tests appropriate to the subject area and grade level you intend to teach.
